Word Sort: Mini Lesson

While taking courses the fall of my junior year, I had to take a wonderful class called Education 302 which highlighted many of the important techniques to teaching reading. I loved the class. Not only was the professor wonderful, but we learned so many things. We got to practice running records, working with wonderful programs, and working hands on with students in a Literacy Lab. This class actually made me question whether I should just finish school as a teacher or go on to be a reading specialist. Maybe one day down the road, I will go back to school to be a reading specialist, but for right now-- teaching it is!

This is a mini lesson that my partner, Amanda, and I worked on with our students. We met with out students forty minutes each week to help them read and teach them some major points of phonemic awareness. Also attached in here is the T-L chart we used to document their progress.

Teaching Philosophy

Last fall, we had to write about our teaching philosophy. In the future, I'm not sure where I'll teach. I would love to teach in most anywhere, but I want to work some where that I'm allowed to be me. I have a love of sharing joy in learning and I want to show that to children all over. Below, I've posted my teaching philosophy link for your viewing. Although it looks this way now, I'm anxious to see how much it will change over the next two years before graduation.
